Some of them boast an excellent architectural style and interior with original furnishings of exquisite workmanship, so as to constitute striking examples from the perspective of art history. are therefore the symbols of the history of local communities , witnesses architecture and art from the Middle Ages onward.
The castles of the Langhe and Roero, visited annually by tens of thousands of Italian and foreign tourists can take a ' strategic importance in the development of tourism and promote the area .
One of the strategies that the tourism development agencies seeking to pursue in conjunction with the Piedmont Region , is in fact the heritage represented by the castles to be attached to offer traditional food and wine of the Langhe and Roero.
Awareness by the local communities of this strategic resource is strongly rooted in recent years and has become one of the main reasons for the enhancement of Committee of the castles of the Langhe and Roero . The project was born from the
Departments of Culture of the Province of Cuneo Regione Piemonte and to pursue and achieve, since 2004, a common strategy of development in order to avoid actions inconsistent and incompatible with each other, and the conviction of a single subject in a position to coordinate the various interventions.
With the support of the Piedmont Region has therefore set up in 2007, including i comuni di Barolo, Benevello, Govone, Grinzane Cavour, Magliano Alfieri, Mango, Roddi, Serralunga d’Alba e l’associazione “Turismo in Langa” il Comitato per la valorizzazione dei castelli delle Langhe e del Roero avente le seguenti finalità :

- qualificare l’offerta turistica attuale mediante azioni di animazione e di promozione atte a incrementare l’attrattività e la fruizione dei castelli;
- creare consapevolezza fra i cittadini e gli amministratori pubblici del valore culturale e del patrimonio storico rappresentato dai castelli delle Langhe e del Roero;
- dare vita a un’immagine coordinata e facilmente riconoscibile della rete dei castelli e aumentare la conoscenza di essi da parte del pubblico nazionale e internazionale;
- aumentare il flusso di visitatori nei singoli castelli;
- creare una rete e un sistema dei castelli delle Langhe e del Roero tendente, oggi, a realizzare iniziative di valorizzazione ma, in futuro, volto a coordinare i singoli castelli, come indicated in the regional priorities for the sector;
- present, in a coordinated manner, instances and issues of government land on which it is a castle
- create benefits that demonstrate the value and all ' importance of creating this "network" and how it is greater than the value of the sum of its individual components.
The overall redevelopment project provides different classes of shares. These target areas were identified either through periodic analysis of regional marketing , both through the collection of requests for assistance and suggestions received from administrators of the municipalities involved.
